I just moved so I have officially no clothes accessible, so maybe I wearing this again today, too. I also wear this sweater almost everyday when it is cold out because it is the softest thickest wool. Love it. Black and white matches everything, too. Oh hello there! Betcha didn't know blue is my favorite color! It is, it is! I just got these brand new blue and black garter shorts from ALLIHALLA, and while I was wearing them yesterday, Katie dropped off my newly monogrammed sweater, so I took off my fuchsia hat and committed to my look. That's why I have some serious wokka wokka hair! Aaaalso, that killer orange lipstick is My Beautiful Rocket from Lime Crime. Love it.

A trip to the mall to visit Santa yielded a super fruitful f21 trip, including these killer leopard print leggings I have been wearing almost nonstop! They were $12.80 and obviously not gonna last forever due to the source, but I am loving them while they last! I love animal prints because they go every direction- rocky roll teenage dream, Peggy Bundy, hip hop bus stop honey, you name it! Every sub-genre I love!

I very rarely wear pants, but it has been so cold out and I have yet to get my yearly supply of tights, so pants it is. I feel like pants are unflattering and intrinsically lazy, but that's a whole 'nother story, 'cause here I am, wearing some Levi's with my new best shoes. I got these saddle shoes from Payless, I love them! The cutest! Perfect!

Earlier this month, my friend Mitra (of Deluxe) asked me to style her hair and makeup for a fashion show she was hosting, as well as doing just makeup on two of her models. I love to do makeup, and I jumped at the chance.
The show was put on by a local recycling center and paired designers with different area businesses and challenged the designers to create a look out of the businesses' trash. This trashion show was a fancy event, and I was so excited to be invited as a guest of Mitra's.
I scored this vintage dress a few weeks prior for just $15. The lace collar is decked out in rhinestones and the back has a beautiful black bow. I also wore my favorite fancy shoes, these studded Sam Edleman babies. I love dressing up!

Once again, it's time for a heap of pictures from the last week or so and some mumbled apology about where I've been... I went to Maryland to pick up a friend to bring back home to Oregon with me and bop around and get so sticky wet with humidity and sweat, and while I was there I did some excellent shopping, left my respects at Divine's grave, ate great food, and attended SPX, too!

You know I'm drinking that red wine and cocacola at the park. SUMMER FUN!The end of summer for me is equal parts cutoffs at any appropriate moment, and lightweight vintage cotton dresses while they're still relevant.

Yesterday we went on a little drive out River Road to the farm to eat veggie snacks and ice cream cones and feed the goats. They had these really great personality vegetables, but this broccoli does not look so friendly...

This vintage cotton dress is lovely, although I have only worn it once before. It has a matching jacket with a darling dark navy Peter Pan collar and matching fabric covered buttons, but always feels so proper to me, almost too proper! Now my hair is so many shades of pink, so I feel like I can wear more structured garments and still be myself.

Yellow used to be my least favorite color, I love it now for all the reasons I used to despise it. It was too bright, too harsh, too garish. I love it! Sunshiney alright! I worked at Kitsch yesterday so I wore a big necklace and tall shoes. The necklace is from Banana Republic, and the shoes are from Target, and I got that dress from Kitsch.
Also, last night I got my hair done and now it is SO PINK. More on that later!

Another day, another black dress, another pair of Frye boots. I got this dress on Banana Republic clearance a few years back. I love it. I love the tight bottom combined with huge sleeves. Also my bangs are goin' nuts and I'm working on getting my hair one color instead of halfhalf.

Brunch is my favorite meal because people generally slow down, eat lots of great things, and indulge in day time drinking. Naps are usually better after brunch. Lots of pork products are served at brunch, and things you dump syrup on, and never ending cups of coffee. My friends and I got together for a sunday brunch yesterday, and all of these things happened. We had lots of mimosas and little roasted purple baby potatoes and pepper bacon and soysages and thick slices of potato bread and a mess of sauteed kale and onions and zucchini and garlic whistles (which are essentially the greenonion like tops of garlic that I devour all spring) and this crazy fruit salad with cardamom yogurt dressing and I just sat there, loving my life and loving my friends and loving my little apartment, and maybe, for once, enjoying a Sunday off. Lately I am all about this dress I got from Target via Goodwill (but I was at Target the other day and they have it currently, and in many colors). It is finally almost spring time in Oregon. It's been soooo cold and grey still, but it's days like today (and yesterday) that remind me of why I'm living here.

I have had this dress for years, I bought it at Deluxe before I ever worked there or knew and loved the owners. It's so comfortable and flattering, cotton house dresses forever. I also love the grey and pink and white combo.

After this, I made a feast of Pad Thai, and Alli and Ponyo came over and helped me eat it all up. We laid around and listened to records, and decided we should spend a good amount of time getting ready to go out to 80's night. Lots of makeup and hairspray. Love it. We are personally trying to bring back the tradition of spending HOURS getting ready to go out, because honestly, I enjoy the getting ready more than the going out... Although I did have some serious moves to "When Doves Cry".

Anyway. I am going to go soak up some sunshine and work on my freckles. I love you all.

Hello babies! How are you? I've had a real full and lovely weekend, and it isn't over yet. Friday night marked the third anniversary of Dawn Baby Salon, a really great place I am happy to work at with my mom, Dawn Baby!

We had a big party with snacks and bands and art and lots of guests! Great fun!

Issue #2 of PORK Magazine is out now! Get it! Here I am seen reading it and wearing a vintage dress and sweater.

Saturday I woke up very early to go to a release party for a fance beer my friend Sean designed the label for, and wore another metallic vintage dress. Do you see the trend?

After that we went for a nature walk and saw a baby eagle and then I laid on the floor for a few hours after drinking several pints of beer at 9am. After I scraped myself off the floor, I biked around with Miranda and had the spiciest thai food and the most bizarre, surreal encounters with people on campus. We gave up on the idea of being out in public, got some framboise, and went and laid in bed and watched Netflix.

Today I hung out with my mom and drank bloody mary's spiced hot with wasabi, and we went shopping. I love my mom very much, I am lucky to have such a good one. Here is a picture of us from a couple of weeks ago. I am wearing yet another vintage metallic dress. My mom gave me perfectly huge hair.

This is what I wore today. A strapless ruched tube dress and a big roller set of curls and lots of hanging out in the hallways of my apartment building looking slightly sullen.

And then I put on shoes and a jacket so I could leave the house to emcee a fashion show! Super fun! Yeah yeah! We did four shows in all, and I got to hostess all of them. Super fun! Yeah Yeah! Last night, I even dreamt about the shows, about knocking over someone's makeup kit and getting bonked in the head! Lookout!

Somehow I ended up wearing 4 different outfits today. The first outfit I wore work at Kitsch, a gold lame zipper backed ALLIHALLA top with ALLIHALLA bike shorts and these Dr.Martens boots I have not wanted to take off since obtaining last week, and a vintage bowler with gold chain around the top.

Then, during the course of my work day I discovered the exact same Old Navy dress that I had in Ponyo's size, so I called her down and forced it upon her. I love matching friends.

After this photo op, I put on my soon to be summer look, and soaked up some late afternoon sun...

Then it got cold and I realized cutoffs and croptops were not yet appropriate in our April weather, so I added a highwaisted skirt with the same top, suspenders, and boots, not pictured because I went out to eat and forgot to take a picture..

A casual sort of going to work all day on a Friday sort of outfit. Katiekatie has posted more picture on PICTURESOFAMELIA.BLOGSPOT.COM.

Things about this outfit:

I love false eyelashes. I love big red things, like sweaters and lips and plastic heart jewelry. Skirt and shirt are from Gap, sweater is from TJ Maxx, belt is from Deluxe, shoes are Faryl Robin and worn most days, and the tights are from Target. The big red heart ring is from Buffalo Exchange, I wear it almost daily. The big silver explosion ring is from Torrid. I got the bakelite bangle for 10cents at the flea market. I spent an evening watching Marie Antionette (so good to craft to) and studding my bag, and then recently added some tassels and fox tails. I dyed the foxtails myself, it was totally fun and wild and so excessive. My latest manicure has alternating black and white tips, with pyramids and magic eyes on the ring fingers. Get real occult, y'all.

I liked this outfit today. I really like this dress and the really great, bizarre pattern of people and polkadot shadow people. Almost reminds me of Miu Miu, except it's the fiiiinest 70's polyester. It used to have a chokehold high neckline, but Mitra at Deluxe modifyied it for me when she saw I had pinned it into a lower cut with bobbypins. Gets the job done, but not the most professional, is it?

Hey you guys! I just found these pictures on my camera from a few weeks ago! Now! For you to see! I really love this muumuu, it is the worst when not belted, but add a belt, and wham bam, it is the best.
Since this was a few weeks ago, the mirrors you see piled on the floor are now one the wall, and my hair is a bit brighter. Also, in this picture, you can see I have pinned half of it up with a leatherbow I have made. I like halfhalf hair. It is good.

I bought this hat today for $8. It is lovelylovely, although I tend to disfavor green, I love bows, and especially vintage bow hats. Green looks quite nice on me, but then so many people ask me if I am Irish, which I am not. Duh. My hair is so not naturally red. Get real! Go away!

Lately I have really been thinking about the wearability of scarves and how they can tie everything together. I have so many, I am going to start really making an effort to utilize them. This red and white polkadot one I got at the same time as the sweater, and good golly, do they match.

Got my nails done tiger striped today. Had my friend Sean design them, what a great advanced concept, getting artists to pre-design your manicures.

I have been wearing this outfit for the past 48 hours. I went to Portland yesterday and ended up sleeping in this dress on a friends couch, then worked all day in it, too. And I smell and look great still. So pro.

I just got two sweaters like this, almost exactly the same, one red with gold buttons and a collar, and one blue with no buttons and no collar. So! I added a vintage detachable collar and some buttons that say PORK! and MORE IS MORE and a gold flower brooch to match my belt to the blue one and matched that to my tights. American Apparel pencil skirt. Target tights. Great job! LOTSA BAKELITE BANGLES, TOO. The only time I feel bad about being fat is when I think about the limit of bracelets I can shove up my arms... (oh, and the title is from things two people said my outfit reminded them of- Wendy from Wendy's fast food, and Wonder Woman. I'll take it.)
WOWEE, YOU GUYS! We had the most epic amazing barbecue last night. Yummest yums. Sausage and pork chops and ribs and chicken! Who says you can't have summer fun in January? Set me up with some meat and Tecate and I am good to go.

SUNDAY SUNDAY BANANA JAMBOREE

Today I spent the whole day with Aabergs after waking up early to bake some sausage and cheese scones.
(THEY WERE REALLY GOOD!).
We went to the flea market where I scored this 70's orange wonder studded bracelet for $10, and two bakelite bangles, one .50cents and the other $5. YES! WIN! I also got an amazing fur coat to be blogged about later, a phone shaped like a big red mouth, a heap of records, and a silver lucite confetti clamp bracelet. Total success.
After the flea market it was time for burgers and a banana split!
The banana split was humorously lacking banana when it was presented to us, which led to tons of "BANANA ON THE SIDE" and "ONE BANANA SPLIT, BUT I AM ON A DIET, SO HOLD THE BANANA" jokes.
THEN IT WAS TEATIME! Not pictured is some spaghetti and sausage, lots of plotting and planning and note taking, and tons of wrestling with children. GREAT DAY!!!!

So we just recently expanded the salon, but then due to complicated complications regarding my mom's back, it has been put on a slight halt in the hustle to make it the BEST SALON EVER! DAWN BABY SALON! So, in the meantime, I have set up my best chair from home and my best turntable, and have made it into a casual living room/waiting area attached to the salon.
And there is a juke box!

Got this horseshoe ring and these mental-ass rhinestoned nautical knockers from the flea market this weekend. Cute and absurd and huge, just how I like 'em.

Here is my post for New Years Eve and New Years Day! New Years Eve we went out to our friends' art openings and New Years Day we feasted and brunched and dogpiled and went to the mall.
Here is what I wore for the first day of the year. The joke is is that pants are my NEMESIS GARMENT and I avoid them as much as possible. I love these gross ass target JEGGINGS because they are so awful they somehow come full circle into being acceptable to me. +Pendleton +wolf shirt.

I love Panda Express too much. It is my #1 and only fast food LOVE and I wish it were open 24/7. Happy New Year, y'all. I know 2011 will be my best ever. I can't wait.

So I am finally moved, for the third time this year. I am finally settling in and washing all the grime off of me and changing my clothes after a few days of frantic cleaning. So! Needless to say! NEW HAIR!

Nothing makes winter better easier than some new hair. That is why I love my job at DAWN BABY SALON, because I get to make people look and feel better everyday.
My really awesome friend Anna just finished school at the Aveda Institute in Portland (where I graduated from this summer) and is back in town. We did some hair til late last night, laughing and talking about boys and hair and wizards and lightning and being delerious from spicy food. It was nice to have some girl time.
We look great, duh! Even on cameraphone...

She added some dark panels to the sides, and my bangs, and brightened up the rest of everything else. I gave her a hot pink panel and touched up her rusty brown orange under section. I don't really wear graphic tshirts unless they are great. This one is REALLY great. I got it at AllSaints in London this summer.

This is the cup I drink water out of everyday at work. Growing up, I had a babysitter that had the whole scented set of Strawberry Shortcake dolls and a turtle that lived in her bathtub named Penzoil. She gave me this cup a few months back. It is not scented, I wish it was. This necklace is from F21 and is such a knockoff of the one I was loving at PassionFlower in downtown Eugene for 50000 times as much. Once I had enough money to get the nicer, more legit one, it had already sold. Those are the breaks.

Shoes are Faryl Robin and my best most favorite ever.

I have been thinking about bubblegum a lot lately. I have always been a gumchewer and a bubblepopper.

What a tough face I will make for you. Maybe it is because all day I did not like this outfit very much, and didn't get a chance to go home and change. It was fine. It got the job done. It was conceptually great, but not in execution.

ORANGE CRUSH

I have been really into orange again since Sean pointed out orange is the opposite of this rainy moldy drab winter we've been having. Read all about it in Bang! Orange is sunshiney alright. Orange is cheerful and hopeful, almost abrasively so. I am progressively making my hair brighter and my clothing brighter and everything is getting brighter and clearer. I am excited it is almost solstice. I am excited for next year.

Vintage dress from the Goodwill bins. It was probably less than $1. These earrings used to be clip ons, and I attached a hook, and I love them because they are huge. Target tights. Orange Crush Lipsmackers. Maruti boots.

Today I am out at my moms house, watching "And God Created Woman" and thinking about Bardot and feasting on breakfast burritos and having too many cups of coffee and uploading all kinds of pictures off her computer, like these two.
This dress is rockin' polyester with an elephant print. Very great.

Today I wore not one, but two sweaters! The under one is my favorite color of blue, and is lovely and vintage and from Deluxe. The top one is my favorite shade of red and is from the sale rack at Banana Republic. The skirt is great because of the ruffles that start right under my butt, and was $10 at Ross. Also I wore black Frye boots, I wear those almost everyday since I got them last month for my birthday.

Red hair, red clothes, red lipstick. I also like the jiggy jaggy design of this blue sweater, although it is the most modest of any garment I own.

Yesterday I changed my clothes twice, this is what I wore in the day, as it was beautiful out and not a bit cold. Vintage dress and beaded sweater, Guess belt, and my favorite brown boots. My second outfit didn't get used as it was supposed to (holiday party I never made it to), so you will just have to guess.

I love walking down alleys because it is so secluded and quiet. And you see graffiti like this.

Hello! Last night Kitsch hosted a benefit party with lots of food and drink and great outfits and general merriment. Also, Art Brut played! And a few other good local bands.
I bought this sweater special for the occasion. I love how the sleeves are a different texture from the rest. Also, a brand new ALLIHALLA peplum skirt. SO NICE and SO HIGHWAISTED. Target tights. Sofft shoes. I had a lot of fun with my fake lashes and Swavorski crystals I glued on my eyes. Like an 80's glam rock android power babe.

I have been working so much! I love it. Also, I just scored this amazing 60's leather biker jacket from Deluxe. I've been looking for one for years, but am so fussy about the fit, that when I put this baby on last night, I knew it was meant to be.

Today my cousin Janelle and I dressed up so goth to go visit Santa at the mall. Seemed important.

We'd spied these hearses down the street a few days before, and knew they'd be perfect for an impromptu photoshoot. I love pulling out all kinds of different looks and lives in one day.

You get to see the best pieces of my outfit today, but no full shots because I left my camera at home all day, and it doesn't matter anyway. A black dress with a great collar. A red sweater with a button missing that I replaced with a Bay City Rollers button. New shoes. New socks. Tights from Target that I love that were $5 and want to wear everyday. I like dressing like this, a combonation of Strawberry Switchblade and a clown. It's fine. It's casual.

Lately I have been wishing for the same cut of dress in every color. I think I will have to special order some from Alli. Lately I want to eliminate all of my clothes from my collection, but instead I will organize them and keep only the best. Maybe that is what I will do now...

Today I wanted only to wear black and necklaces. I went to school (at the Aveda Institute of Portland) for a year with a strict black and white uniform, and graduated this summer. I am finally getting comfortable with wearing black again, just in time for winter and vivid hair and accessories.

The cold weather has got me wishing for hot summers by the river, and infinite craft/dinner parties with friends who make me laugh so hard I forget the frost and rain. Luckily the latter has been happening so often lately...

This is what I wore to work on Sunday. It was boring. Sundays always are. What isn't boring is red pants. And this shirt I got with a hairbrush and a comb on it. Great! I did however forget to hold still long enough to get a picture of it. Next time!
I think I want these pants to be much tighter. I have decided I can wear pants this winter if they are offensively tight.

...since it has been snowing and I am a pedestrian and it is SO COLD out.
I wore this bow to work today and this cutie little thing of a girl said I was like Hello Kitty. Made my day. Cutey cute.

I just got this shirt from Kitsch. It is very oversized and has pearl and leopard print print! Wowee Zowee. Wore it with some bike shorts and white Frye boots, and, as I had stayed out to late the night before, a hat, with a veil, to hide in. This outfit was made up in my brain as I watched Xuxa youtube clips. Remember her? Amazing. She was such my favorite as a kid.

Right now I am sitting in my living room listening to End of the Century by the Ramones. Yes. Good. Two things I like, Phil Spector and the Ramones. Here are some pictures from last night and today.

Last night I went to bingo at Sam Bond's and didn't win anything and was irritated because I AM A WINNER. Then I ate some really great and very tart apple cranberry pie I had baked yesterday afternoon. Yum!

Back to business!

I appreciate people with coherent looks, but I cannot plan myself that intensely, and am attracted to such eclectic garments. Sometimes I wanna be a 70's rocky roller. Sometimes I want to be a 60's gogo dancer. Sometimes, like right now, I wanna be a local teen and hang out in my underwear and a No Doubt tshirt and cook dinner and listen to pop records.

Last night! Feathered hair like bam! If you have read my blog for a while, you may have noticed I do not like pants. I don't think they look good on me, I do not think they look good on a lot of women who wear them. Or, not as good as a skirt or dress might.

I think there is much more power and sex and looking good to be found in a skirt or dress. Now that women have the right to wear whatever they want, whenever they want (in Oregon, in America, at least), I think fashion should be respected more, experimented with more. Pants are easy. I don't want to look "easy". I am some sort of anti-Amelia Bloomer.

That being said!

Sometimes, if they are tight enough, pants are acceptable in my world. Sometimes, if you wanna look like the lost chubby Runaway, they're great.

Not for everyday.

Not for work.

Not for LOOKING GREAT if you are named Amelia.

I love yellow and grey. I love red and yellow. I love red and yellow and grey together. I got this dress from Old Navy via Deluxe, the tights are from Target, the shoes are from Kitsch that I altered with red studs last night, and the sweater was $2 from the flea market last weekend.

Slowly unpacking all of the boxes in my new house. Setting up my stereo tonight. No more Pandora stations only, although my T.Rex station is so good...

I went to the mall yesterday for perfume. The title of this post comes from the Sephora ad for Hanae Mori, which is what I smell like, which smells great, on me. What a funny joke. My festive fragrance.
I hadn't had any for months. I'm a mostly all organic type of girl except when it comes to makeup and fragrance. Performance is so important in those arenas for me. Look good, smell good! I will eat the organic vegetables and wear the chemical perfume.

These huge sunglasses from Deluxe. They're so big! Everything so big! Big 70s earrings. Big glasses. Big Amelia.
Here I was probably laughing at Melina. Look at the other side of the story on her blog... Please note! I finally got black Frye boots! Birthday present from my dad. Great. Yes.
Also, later this night, my friend Kaleigh came over to take some pictures for an article I'm writing about Business Goth. (Pictures were after delirious fake fighting and laughing and eating bean and cheese burritos with so much lime after midnight. Yum.)
